Rating web part need debug=false

Aug 14, 2008 at 9:39 AM
I tried the rating web part, but could not get it to work. It gave me the following javascript error:

"Sys.InvalidOperationException: Two components with the same id 'xxx' can't be added to the application"

However, it can be fixed by setting <compilation debug="false"> in web.config.

Any idea why this is neccessary?

Do you have more than one rating web part in page?

Anyway, this is a bug so I'll open new issue to issue tracker from this.

No, only one. Seems to be a problem with the ajax library as this error is reported in many other situations.

Another problem I've noticed today is that the webpart does not work when we are using our own stylesheet instead of the default moss team-site css.
The stars are not visible. This also happens on default moss publishing-sites.

Can you try change the star style from web part properties? If you change the style to some other style, are the stars still invisible?

Also can you check from the HTML source if the Rating web part stylesheet link is correct?

It does not help to change the star style and the css-links are correct.

Ok, thanks for reporting. I try to fix this for next release.
